2011 SATS Congress
The SATS Gauteng Chapter will be hosting this prestigious event at the Birchwood
Hotel in North Rand Road Boksburg. The SATS 2011 Congress will run from 10 May to
13 May 2011. Book early and do not leave it to the very last moment.
The venue includes accommodation and lecture/function venues. This means that nobody
will have to travel in between the accommodation venue and the lectures/functions
venue. The Birchwood is very close to the OR Tambo Airport and a regular shuttle
service runs between the hotel and the airport. If, however, you choose to stay
in one of the surrounding guesthouses, all travel arrangements and bookings will
have to be made by yourself.
The academic programme is in its final stages and will soon be available in the
SATS Journal. This will be a new and exciting programme, which will include not
only the best available in South Africa, but a number of international speakers.
Not only is our organisation held in high esteem for our dedication and commitment
to peri-operative practice, our congress will be host to the board meeting of the
International Federation of Peri-operative Nurses (IFPN) (www.ifpn.uk.org), an organization
we have been a member of for a number of years. Even the WHO is considering sending
a representative!
Social events include our gala evening, an informal ‘slumber’ party, the prestigious
opening function and awards evening, a hat competition, and an opportunity for our
members to win a prize in our poster competition. Some very special interaction
will be taking place, and you will experience a “Nurse Day” as never before!
As usual the trade will be well represented to educate and inform us on what is
new in technology. Without them no congress will ever be complete.
Remember, Congress is the time to expand your knowledge, meet old friends, let your
hair down and enjoy some carefree fun. Not forgetting all the fabulous prizes that
can be won!
